Thorpe Neil

DR. NEIL THORPE BSc MSc PhD CEng: is currently a Lecturer in Transport Studies in the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at Newcastle University, UK with over 25 years’ experience of research conducting empirical investigations of attitudinal and behavioural responses to technology-based travel demand management solutions which aim to reduce congestion and atmospheric pollution, and improve road safety. His current road safety research interests focus on the development of new statistical approaches and software for evaluating road safety schemes and identifying collision hotspots. Previously he has been invited to contribute to a number of road safety research and training events in Europe and North and South America focussing on the analysis of road accident data, driver education programmes and funding for road safety schemes.
